31.12.11 Nice end in Mechelen! |
By
annual tradition we went the week between Christmas and New
Year to the Nekkerhal in Mechelen, where the 31st edition of Jumping Mechelen
took place. The traditional
"stallion day" was on Tuesday this year. In the
seven year olds, who were allowed to jump in the main arena,
Dirk participated with the Nonstop son Esperanto van Paemel.
Esperanto and Dirk were the first to enter the ring and a
fresh Esperanto immediately showed what he has to offer with
a nice clear round in which he displayed his scope. As first
combination in the jump-off, Dirk took some risks to record
a good time, which resulted in a 9th place.
Cicero Z van Paemel also appeared for the first time
at the start on Tuesday, in the Sires of The World, the
class which he carried off last year. A fit Cicero clearly
felt like it and jumped a great clear round. In the jump-off
Dirk took the shortest way by making a short turn
immediately after the first jump. A misunderstanding between
the both of them and a fault resulted in an 11th place. On
Thursday they participated in the Grand Prix in which Cicero
clearly wasn't alert enough, because he got a fault straight
away on the first obstacle. Nevertheless we saw a super
jumping Cicero, who obviously had more to offer. It was in
the Last Chance, Price City Mechelen, that Cicero was fully
alert. Dirk and Cicero were one of the 17 combinations who
qualified for the jump-off. They started as the 3rd and Dirk
realized a good clear round. Dirk and Cicero ended CSI-W Mechelen
with a nice 4th place, what promises for 2012. Don
Camillo van Paemel, who is in property of Starhorses,
jumped in a 1m40 class on Thursday in the two star CSI. Under
the saddle of Thiago Ribas da Costa he recorded a time which
was good for a third place, but a fault on the last fence
referred them to a 6th place. Click

23.12.11 Barbarossa ranked in London |
Under
the saddle of the Frenchman Aldrick Cheronnet the Darco son
of Quechua, Barbarossa van Paemel, participated in
the London
International Horse Show in Olympia. On the first day they
already started in the 1m50 Christmas Pudding Stakes in
which they managed to qualify for the jump-off.
Barbarossa again managed to keep a clear round and did this
in a time that was good for the 7th place. The 1m55
Earls Court Olympia Christmas Cracker stood on the program
of Barbarossa and Cheronnet the next day. The sorrel jumped
once again a clear round, but they got a fault in the
jump-off which brought them to an 8th place.
In
the BWP National exterior testing for mares at Agribex
participated several descendants of Cicero. The best place
was reserved for the widely known Cicero daughter Have Patience van het
Westhof. This elegant four year old mare gained a 5th
place in the B class. Have Patience is in property of Dave Coppens
and was bred out of Tina van de
West-Gavers (Palestro vd Begijnakker x Jazz). The in
property of Vincent Coppens being Honey (Cicero Z x
Pavarotti vd Helle) stranded on an 8th place in the same
series. Kien van Koekshof became 6th in the B
series for yearlings. Kien is a daughter of the Contender mare Berenice van Koekshof
and was bred by Jaak Evens at Bocholt. Kavalia van het
Heidehof (Cicero Z x Darco) was also placed 8th in the
A series for yearlings. Kavalia is in property of Jessica Pauels
from Butgenbach. The Cicero x
Darco daughter Iron Lady of breeder Hilaire Donvil
from Bunsbeek became 9th in the A series for three year old
horses.
Ideale van de Nachtegaele gained a 10th place in the B
class. Ideale is a daughter of Cicero by the Quickfeuer
van Koekshof mare Wendy van de Nachtegalehoeve and was bred
by Stal Nachtegaele.

11.12.11 Eclipse 6th in Geneva |
Out
of the first descendants of Cicero Z van Paemel the now
seven year old Eclipse was born by a Skippy II mare.
Like ealier appeared on the website is Eclipse, in property
of Filip Vanlaethem, ridden by Philippe Le Jeune. This weekend
the mare was allowed to accompany him to the CHI Geneva where
she participated in the 1m35 Youngster Tour, which were 2
competitions. Eclipse had a clear round on the first day and
got a neat 7th place. The next day she again jumped a clear
round and managed to qualify for the jump-off. In the
jump-off she gained a quick time, but got an unlucky fault. Eclipse
and Le Jeune achieved a great 6th place.
Bonanza
van Paemel (Darco x Sheyenne de Baugy) was present at the
five star CSIO in Barcelona under the Swiss rider Grégoire
Oberson. On the opening day they started in a 1m40 class
against the clock. Bonanza jumped a clear round, what
yielded a 13th place. The next class was a 1m45-1m50 with a winning round. Bonanza
stayed nicely clear and was placed 5th after the first
round, which he managed to keep after another clear
jump-off.
Bonanza already gained an 8th place in a 1m35 class earlier
this year in La Coruña.
During
the CSI in the French Caen Barbarossa van Paemel
(Darco x Remondo) took part with Aldrick Cheronnet. On the
first day they competed in a 1m45 class in which they jumped
a clear first round, but got two faults in the jump-off. On
Sunday Barbarossa was saddles once more for the
1m50 Grand Prix. The 10 year old gelding jumped again a
clear round and was allowed to participate in the jump-off,
in which the mighty chestnut got one fault. They stranded on
a nice 9th place.

20.11.11 Cicero 2nd in Grand Prix Wieze |
After
a few weeks of competitions in foreign contries, Dirk Demeersman
competed in the three star competition of Wieze. It was the
first time in the Oktoberhallen for the Carthago son Cicero Z van Paemel. Cicero
was still a bit ill at ease in the small ring and had to
leave the 1m45 class with 3 faults. On Saturday Cicero paid
more attention and showed a very nice round. Unfortunately
they got a bad luck fault. Today Cicero and Dirk were
allowed to participate in the 1m50 Grand Prix, who appeared
to be selective as were the past day. Cicero clearly showed
he was in excellent shape with a clear round in which he
displayed his power. That way Dirk and Cicero qualifiedthem
for the jump-off as 1 of the 7 faultless combinations on 54
participants. In the jump-off no one at all managed to stay
clear. With one fault Cicero and Dirk had a quick time which
was good for a fantastic 2nd place.
Maurice Van Roosbroeck and Dylano were the only ones who
could improve their time.

09.11.11 Cicero gains places of honour in Verona |
In
the Italian Verona the five star CSI-W was held this
weekend. Dirk Demeersman appeared there as the only Belgian,
accompanied by our Cicero Z van Paemel,
Diamond's Billy and Bufero vh Panishof. The first day
Cicero started in a 1m50 class against the clock. A good
jumping Cicero proved that the sting is in the tail with a
bad luck fault on the last fence. On Saturday Dirk
participated with Cicero again in a 1m50 class. Once more we
saw a super jumping Cicero, who jumped amply over the
fences. Nevertheless they got one fault along the way, but
thanks to a relatively quick time they stranded on a nice
10th place. On the last day Cicero took care of the 1m45
class with enclosed jump-off under Dirk. He was obviously in
great shape by jumping two clear round in a fast time, which
was good for a great 7th place. Click

01.11.11 Cicero progeny ahead of performance test |
At
the national performance test for three and four year old
horses, that was organized by the BWP region Geel, two four
year old descendants of Cicero Z van Paemel took part.
Houdini van Moretus did it marvellously with a second place,
with only a difference of 1 point with the first. Houdini was
ridden by Talina Menosa and is a son of Wanda S
(Calido I x Landgraf I, breeder Ann Lauwers). On the third
place there was also a son of Cicero. Hertog van 't Dauwhof
was bred by
Willy Denolf out of Superbe, a Heartbreaker x Pachat
II mare. Hertog appeared under the saddle of Bob
Janssens. Both descendants are in property of the Roshoeve NV. Our
dark brown muscleman, Esperanto van Paemel, could travel to
Saint-Lô with rider Dirk Demeersman mid October. On the first
day the Nonstop son got dished up a 1m35 class that he
rounded off faultlessly on a simple way. The next two day
they got two faults, but Dirk was not dissappointed at all
in a good jumping Esperanto, who was actually a bit
impressed by the ring. This weekend the combination was
present at Hulsterlo where the Gold League was held. On
Friday Esperanto participated in the 1m30 class en jumped a
good clear round in a time that was good for an 11th place on 116
participants. In the 1m35 class of the next day Esperanto
again stayed clear, but got a fault in the jump-off. Ciska van Paemel Z (Cicero Z x Campus) was
also present in Hulsterlo with Dirk Demeersman. She only
started on Saturday in the 1m25 and jumped a clear round on
a relaxed way. Click

05.10.11 Cicero son auctioned for € 82,000 |
Last
Wednesday was the eighth edition of the Dutch Sport
Horses Sales in the Netherlands. In the collection young
jumping horses there was a five year old descendant of Cicero Z van Paemel.
The in 2006 born gelding was bred by Maria Roosens out of
the Ladalco mare La Luna. Written about Golo was that he is
impressive in the ring due to his unrivalled ability over
the jump and his fine riding qualities. Golo also seemed to
awaken the interest of the public, because he changed from
owner for an amount of no less than € 82,000. During
the world championship for young horses in Lanaken Gobi van de Roshoeve (Cicero Z x Porche de Bornival)
took part in the WC for five year old horses. The mare
jumped both qualifiers clear under the Irish rider Steven
Smith. In the final on Sunday the mare managed to convince
again by jumping a clear course and a faultless jump-off,
that yielded a 15th place. Esperanto
van Paemel appeared at the start in the consolation for
seven year old horses with Dirk Demeersman. After his
fantastic 2nd place on Thursday, the new combination got two
faults the next day. Saturday he was again neatly clear and
they gained a 12th place. Click

In
Lanaken the world championship for young horses began on
Thursday at the domain of Leon Melchior. Dirk Demeersman
appeared at the start with our BWP approved Nonstop son, Esperanto van Paemel,
in the class for seven year old horses. The hardly one month
old combination jumped a clear 1m40 course in the first
qualifier to shoot off like a rocket in the jump-off. A
great jumping Esperanto stayed far away from the obstacles
and demonstrated that he is flexible and nimble. They
finished in a very fast time, which was only improved by the
Irishman Clement McMahon with Rosie Bee. Thus Esperanto and Dirk
added an excellent 2nd to their record, over 206
participants. Click

29.08.11 Don Camillo strong in Bonheiden |
After strong performances in
Eindhoven, Aalst and Beervelde earlier this year the eight
year old Don Camillo van Paemel continues to perform great.
The black Darco son out of the Remondo mare
Quechua was present in Bonheiden previous weekend. With the
Brazilian stablerider of owner Starhorses, Thiago
Ribas da Costa, Don started in the 1m40 class on Saturday.
They jumped a great clear round and ended on a joint first
place, after the jump-off was cancelled due to bad weather.
On Sunday a great jumping Don Camillo stayed once again
faultless and qualified for the jump-off. Thiago and Don
proved once more that they form a superb combination with a
very quick jump-off. They finished in a time that only
Olivier Philippaerts could improve and so gained a very
creditable second place. Click

23.08.11 Esperanto and Gigolo join Dirk Demeersman |
The seven year old Esperanto
van Paemel is a BWP approved son of Nonstop out of the
broodmare Rendez-Vous van Paemel (Randel Z x Graphit). Like
his 'big brother' Cicero Z van Paemel Esperanto's
international career will be continued with none other than
top rider Dirk Demeersman. The new combination will soon
enter a competition. Besides Esperanto, the five year old Gigolo van Paemel
also joined the stables of Dirk

will be build up steadily.

19.08.11 Eclipse made her debut with a winning |
During the Belgian
Championship for young horses in Gèsves Eclipse
made her first appearance with world champion Philippe Le Jeune in
the criterium for seven year old horses. The Cicero Z van Paemel
daughter was born from his first breeding year in combination
with the Skippy II mare Argentina de Laubry and moved to the
stabled of Le Jeune after Beervelde. In the first heat she
jumped without touching the fences, but got one time
penalty. The second heat she again did not touch the
obstacles, but in the second round the distance in the
double did not come out, which resulted in seven penalty
points. In the final class of the criterium the new
combination dotted the i's. A superb jumping Eclipse
qualified for the jump-off after a clear round. The powerful
descendant of Cicero also jumped faultless in the jump-off
in the quickest time and so
Eclipse and Le Jeune immediately won their first class. Among
the four year old horses the Cicero Z x Darco son, Hercules
van Paemel, was present. The stallion, who is in
property of Starhorses, jumped both qualifying rounds clezr
with Thiago
Ribas da Costa and managed to qualify him for the
championship, in which only 31 combinations succeeded. In
the championship they unfortunately got two faults. Houston
(Cicero Z x Skippy II, breeder Dirk Van Looveren) had the
first day an off-day, but made that up in the second
qualifying round, in which she jumped a clear round with Evelien Van Looveren. In
the first qualification among the five year old horses both Gissero (Cicero Z x Garanco)

victory in the six bars, in the Irish Dublin for the first
time. Cicero was again in good shape under the saddle of Dirk Demeersman.
They immediately started on Wednesday at the five stars CSIO Dublin Horse Show in
a 1m45 class against the clock. Cicero did not only jump
very well, he also stayed faultless in a reasonably short
time, which was good for a great 4th place.
On Saturday Cicero was brought into action in the accumulator,
which appeared to be no easy task. Only 7 combinations
managed to jump a clear round, including Cicero and Dirk.
They rounded the competition off without coming near the
obstacles and got hold of a 6th place. The videos will be
available presently. |

18.07.11 Bad luck in Aachen |
Cicero Z van Paemel already
went to the mighty grass track of CHIO Aachen as a seven and
eight year old under the saddle of Dirk Demeersman.
Back then he jumped the classes for young horses, but this
year the 'bigger' classes were on the program. On Tuesday Cicero
started in a 1m45
class, in which he still was a bit impressed. A good jumping
Cicer got a fault on the third fence. The next day he also
had to leave the track with an unlucky fault on the fence
two in a 1m50 class. On Saturday evening Cicero jumped in a
1m50 accumulator. Cicero was jumping great, but got a fault
on the joker. Esperanto
van Paemel jumped two weeks ago in Bonheiden. The first day Nick Vrins
started him in a 1m30 class, which he completed with 3 time
penalties. On Wedsnesday Esperanto jumped in a 1m40 class.
The powerful Esperanto jumped with ease over the
fences, but a time penalty kept him out of the jump-off. In
the 1m35 he jumped a double clear, what yielded him a 13th
place.

23.06.11 Gigolo and other Cicero's
in Heusden |
While Don Camillo van
Paemel was present in Aalst last weekend, his 'big' brother, Barbarossa van Paemel,
jumped in Vidauban. Don
Camillo ran off with the third place in the small Grand Prix
on Saturday and Barbarossa could have gained the same place in
the Grand Prix with his French rider Aldrick Cheronnet on Sunday,
but a fault referred them to a 5th place. The SBB
competition in Heusden took place two weeks ago. Our BWP
approved Gigolo van Paemel (Cicero Z x Sandro) took part
in the five year old horses with Nick Vrins. The stricking
beautiful son of Cicero jumped two times clear and managed to
jump a clear jump-off as well, what yielded him a joint first
place. Ginnis van 't
Geyzeven (Cicero Z x Heureka de la Loge, bred by Boudewijn Schepers)
stranded also on a first place after 3 clear rounds with Jasper Schepers.
Goldpie van Koekshof, the Cicero son out of a Lys de
Darmen from the stables of Jaak Evens, too realized 2 clear
rounds, but got a fault in the jump-off with Luc
Geerts. The same result was for Gucci of Roses
(Cicero Z x Major de la Cour, breeder Danny Roosens) under
the saddle of Sven Grouwels. Another Cicero son, Giorgio
Armani Bygaerts D'08, got a fault as well in the
jump-off with Benny Schepers. The by Paul Steenackers bred Gallantino (Cicero Z x Sire Major de la Cour)
got two faults after two clear tracks with Lies Steenackers.
The other approved Cicero son, Galisco van Paemel, didn't
touch a fence, but was not allowed to attend the jump-off
because of a time penalty with Nick Vrins. Under Pieter
Kenis jumped Gitano, a Cicero by the Dublin daughter Igaro
with as breeder Willemse Rik Beerse, a clear round. Gicero van het Lemmenshof (Cicero Z x Sun
Light) was also once faultless with Kristof Lemmens. Among

20.06.11 Cicero and Don Camillo in
Aalst |
Belgium has got a new three
star jumping thanks to Filip Vanlaethem and Luk Van
Puymbroeck. Dirk Demeersman too was present at the Jumping Aalst International
accompanied by Cicero Z van Paemel. On Thursday the combination
started in a 1m45 class against the clock as a warm-up. Cicero
jumped a nice round and was faultless. In that same class his
nephew, Don Camillo van Paemel (Darco x Remondo), also jumped with
Thiago Ribas da Costa, who gained a 7th place. The stallion,
in property of Starhorses, appears to have found his rider,
because he did it fantasticly in the small Grand Prix as well.
There they obtained after a clear round and a faultless jump-off
a great 3rd place.
On Sunday Cicero went ahead in the Grand Prix, which turned out
to be selective with only 7 faultless combinations. Cicero too
jumped a clear round and qualified him for the jump-off, which
was held with 11 combinations. A with a lot of power jumping
Cicero lost his concentraties in a jump-off, which took place in
the pouring rain, and got two faults. Cicero and Dirk ended up
on a 10th place. Eclipse, the
daughter of Cicero by a Skippy II mare, jumped double clear in
the class for seven year old horses on Saturday. The powerful
mare is in property of organisator
Filip Vanlaethem and was ridden by Melissa Seneca. Click

14.06.11 Cicero has bad luck in De
Steeg |
Cicero Z van Paemel and Dirk
Demeersman were present at the four star Outdoor Gelderland
at the Dutch 'Landgoed Middachten' previous weekend.
Cicero started twice on the beautiful court on Sunday and
Monday. In the 1m50 class on Sunday Cicero was not concentrated
when he began, because he got a fault on the 1st and 3rd fence.
On Monday the combination began in the Grand Prix. A super
jumping Cicero showed once again that he does not have a problem
with the height, but the sting is in the tail, where they
unfortunately got a fault on the last fence. Click

06.04.11 Cicero has strongest average |
"Cicero Z van Paemel
obtained in the six years that he has registered foals five
times the annual top ten. In 2008 he was right at the top
with 126 descendants. The year after the Carthago-son did
even better and pinched the first place with 170 foals. The
grey gained in six years an average of slightly more than 96
foals a year. For this criterion that is the strongest score
of all 333 stallions. In total he already climbs to a third
place with 580 descendants.
Cicero's performances under the saddle of Dirk Demeersman form
the base for his popularity. In 2010 the combination won the Sires of the World
at the Christmasjumping of
Mechelen. It's probable that he will knit an extension to
his fame."

did well in Belgium, Ulysses jumped remarkably in France. The Cicero
son participated in the seven year old horses classes
with Fabian Gachnang in Vidauban. Last week he had a clear
round on the first day, what put him on a joint first place. In
the final he stayed faultless in the two round and gained a
5th place. This week he was once again joint first in the 1m25-1m30
class with a clear round. Ciska van
Paemel Z, by Cleopatra (Campus x Remondo), is taking part in

On
Thursday the 4th heat of the pavo stallion competition was
ridden at Flanders Horse Expo in Ghent. Once again was Stoeterij

Z van Paemel out of a Feinschnitt I vd Richter mare,
Galisco van Paemel. As well as Gigolo this stallion knew how
to impress on the jump and stayed likewise faultless.
Esperanto van Paemel was the
last in the class for seven-year-old stallions. From his first
jump it was clear that Esperanto obviously was in excellent
form. He jumped a great clear round and placed himself for the
jump-off. In the jump-off he was jumping even better and he was
again faultless. Esperanto gained a great 2nd place behind Harrie Smolders (Emerald).

Galisco started with the five-year-old stallions. Gigolo
showed as well power on the jump and he also registered a
clear round, by which he ended joint first.
In
the seven-year-olds class it was Esperanto van Paemel's turn.
This son of Nonstop out of Rendez-Vous van Paemel (Randel Z x
Graphit) did not come close the obstacles and qualified
himself for the jump-off, in which he got a bad luck fault. He
achieved a 6th place.

24.01.11 Gigolo wins stallion championship |
On
Friday the BWP Stallion Championships took place at the 'Zilveren Spoor'
in Moorsele. The five-year-old stallions were dished up a
high an difficult track. Gigolo van Paemel, the son of Cicero
by Sissi (Sandro x
Argentan), was the first to start with Nick Vrins.
Gigolo immediately showed how it should be by jumping a
great clear round. Although Gigolo made the track look easy,
the contrary was proven because of the fact that he was the
only one who stayed faultless. By that Gigolo gained his
first champion's ribbon and he took the cup home.
