31.12.11  Nice end in Mechelen!

By annual tradition we went the week between Christmas and New Year to the Nekkerhal in Mechelen, where the 31st edition of Jumping Mechelen took place. The traditional "stallion day" was on Tuesday this year. In the seven year olds, who were allowed to jump in the main arena, Dirk participated with the Nonstop son Esperanto van Paemel. Esperanto and Dirk were the first to enter the ring and a fresh Esperanto immediately showed what he has to offer with a nice clear round in which he displayed his scope. As first combination in the jump-off, Dirk took some risks to record a good time, which resulted in a 9th place.

Cicero Z van Paemel also appeared for the first time at the start on Tuesday, in the Sires of The World, the class which he carried off last year. A fit Cicero clearly felt like it and jumped a great clear round. In the jump-off Dirk took the shortest way by making a short turn immediately after the first jump. A misunderstanding between the both of them and a fault resulted in an 11th place. On Thursday they participated in the Grand Prix in which Cicero clearly wasn't alert enough, because he got a fault straight away on the first obstacle. Nevertheless we saw a super jumping Cicero, who obviously had more to offer. It was in the Last Chance, Price City Mechelen, that Cicero was fully alert. Dirk and Cicero were one of the 17 combinations who qualified for the jump-off. They started as the 3rd and Dirk realized a good clear round. Dirk and Cicero ended CSI-W Mechelen with a nice 4th place, what promises for 2012.

Don Camillo van Paemel, who is in property of Starhorses, jumped in a 1m40 class on Thursday in the two star CSI. Under the saddle of Thiago Ribas da Costa he recorded a time which was good for a third place, but a fault on the last fence referred them to a 6th place.

The 1m55 Earls Court Olympia Christmas Cracker stood on the program of Barbarossa and Cheronnet the next day. The sorrel jumped once again a clear round, but they got a fault in the jump-off which brought them to an 8th place.

20.11.11  Cicero 2nd in Grand Prix Wieze

After a few weeks of competitions in foreign contries, Dirk Demeersman competed in the three star competition of Wieze. It was the first time in the Oktoberhallen for the Carthago son Cicero Z van Paemel. Cicero was still a bit ill at ease in the small ring and had to leave the 1m45 class with 3 faults. On Saturday Cicero paid more attention and showed a very nice round. Unfortunately they got a bad luck fault. Today Cicero and Dirk were allowed to participate in the 1m50 Grand Prix, who appeared to be selective as were the past day. Cicero clearly showed he was in excellent shape with a clear round in which he displayed his power. That way Dirk and Cicero qualifiedthem for the jump-off as 1 of the 7 faultless combinations on 54 participants. In the jump-off no one at all managed to stay clear. With one fault Cicero and Dirk had a quick time which was good for a fantastic 2nd place. Maurice Van Roosbroeck and Dylano were the only ones who could improve their time.

On the first day the Nonstop son got dished up a 1m35 class that he rounded off faultlessly on a simple way. 06.04.11  Cicero has strongest average

"Cicero Z van Paemel obtained in the six years that he has registered foals five times the annual top ten. In 2008 he was right at the top with 126 descendants. The year after the Carthago-son did even better and pinched the first place with 170 foals. The grey gained in six years an average of slightly more than 96 foals a year. For this criterion that is the strongest score of all 333 stallions. In total he already climbs to a third place with 580 descendants.
Cicero's performances under the saddle of Dirk Demeersman form the base for his popularity. In 2010 the combination won the Sires of the World at the Christmasjumping of Mechelen. It's probable that he will knit an extension to his fame."
